Guide to Arcadia

ArcadiaArcadia is a city in Los Angeles County and located 13 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley and at the base of the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains. It is nestled between Monrovia to the east, Pasadena to the west, Sierra Madre to the north and El Monte. Other nearby towns include San Gabriel, Temple City & Baldwin Park. It’s the site of the Santa Anita Park racetrack and home to the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden. The city had a population of 56,364 at the 2010 census, up from 53,248 at the 2000 census. The city is named after Arcadia, Greece.In 2010, Bloomberg Business week named Arcadia as one of the “Best Places to Raise Your Kids: 2010,” for the second year in a row. It’s a relatively crime-free haven, with wonderful mountain views and lots of green space!

First Avenue/Huntington Drive

First Avenue is one of Arcadia’s principal streets – a wide boulevard-style avenue with a clear view of the mountains to the north. It’s home to Arcadia’s boutique shops, cafes, restaurants, spas connecting to similar places along Huntington Drive which crosses over it. It’s a great place to experience local independent businesses and get away from those anonymous chains!

Arcadia Blues Club

Arcadia Blues ClubJust a short way along Huntinton Drive to the west of First Avenue is the Arcadia Blues Club. Famous names such as Johnny Winter, Charlie Musselwhite, Rod Piazza and Kofi Baker (son of Ginger Baker) have recently graced the stage. Great food and drink too!

Zapata Vive!

Cozy little Mexican restaurant and bar. Warm and friendly service at this local independent eatery. Great selection of classis Mexican starters and entrees, plus delicious desserts and drinks!
